Yesterday afternoon, June 18, 2013 at 12:16 p.m., Troopers assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Sturbridge Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on I-395 north near the Huguenot Street overpass in Oxford that resulted in a fatality.

A 2010 Nissan Maxima operated by PETER LAFATA, 70, of Gloucester, was traveling north on I-395 when it veered off the roadway, striking a guardrail.  Mr. LAFATA suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester.

The passenger, ELIZABETH LAFATA, 67, of Gloucester sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation as to the cause of the crash remains under investigation by Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
