Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 06262015 – State Police Arrest NY Man for Trafficking Heroin in Springfield

On 06/25/2015 State Police arrested a New York man on Route 91 North in Springfield for trafficking heroin.

It was at about 7:00 p.m. that Sergeant Brendan Shugrue of the B-Troop Community Action Team observed a 1999 Honda Odyssey traveling on Route 91 North, following too closely behind another vehicle.  Sergeant Shugrue stopped the vehicle and after a subsequent investigation with assistance from Trooper Theodore Tudryn, he located more than 180 grams of a substance believed to be heroin inside the vehicle.

The operator, CARLOS CRUZ-SANCHEZ, 29, of Bronx, New York, was arrested for Trafficking in Heroin and was additionally cited for Following Too Closely.  He was booked at the State Police barracks in Springfield and was subsequently transported to the Hampshire House of Correction and held on $50,000.00 bail pending his arraignment in Springfield District Court today.
