UPDATE Investigation Ongoing into Serious Pedestrian Crash in Dorchester


The State Police investigation into Wednesday night’s pedestrian crash on Gallivan Boulevard in Dorchester is ongoing. The victim, an 18-year-old Hyde Park woman, remains in critical condition at Boston Medical Center with severe injuries.

The results of the ongoing investigation will determine whether charges are warranted against the driver of the vehicle that struck her. The crash occurred at approximately 8:35 p.m. Wednesday.

INITIAL RELEASE, Sent Thursday, Nov. 3 at 12:41 a.m.

The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a crash between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred Wednesday night in Dorchester. The female pedestrian suffered serious injuries and is currently in critical condition.

At approximately 8:35 pm Troop H was advised that a pedestrian had been struck on Gallivan Boulevard at Milton Avenue. Numerous troopers responded along with Boston EMS, which transported the 18-year-old victim to Boston Medical Center.

The victim was struck by a Pontiac GT that was being driven westbound on Gallivan Boulevard by a 25-year-old man. Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was struck while crossing Gallivan in order to catch a bus after leaving a residence she had visiting with a friend. The residence belongs to a relative of her friend.

The driver stopped after the crash and was interviewed by troopers. His car was taken to a State Police facility, where it will be examined further and processed for evidence.

The investigation is ongoing to determine whether criminal charges are warranted. The investigation is being conducted by Massachusetts State Police Troop H patrol troopers and detectives with assistance from the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
