At about 5:15 a.m. this morning, State Police from the South Boston Barracks responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on Route 93 northbound, north of Exit 15 in Boston, which resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation indicates that State Police received several calls from motorists regarding a man who was reportedly staggering across Route 93 southbound in the area of Exit 16.  Trooper Ryan Ware located the man lying in the roadway on Route 93 northbound, north of Exit 15, and determined that the man had sustained serious injuries from being struck by a motor vehicle.  Trooper Ware rendered advanced emergency first aid to the victim, but unfortunately the victim was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

It was determined that the victim had been struck in the northbound travel lanes by a 2014 Subaru Forester, operated by a 40-year-old Norton man.  The operator of the Subaru was uninjured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Troop H detectives, troopers assigned to Troop H, and troopers assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.  No charges have been filed at this time.
