State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Brookline

Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 04032017 – State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Brookline

This morning at about 7:45 a.m., there was a collision between a car and a motorcycle on the VFW Parkway at South Street in Brookline which resulted in the death of the motorcycle operator.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Michael Szymanski indicates that a 2012 Mazda 5 was turning left onto South Street from the VFW Parkway (northbound side) when it was struck by a 2005 Yamaha FZ6S which was traveling on the VFW southbound.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 35-year-old man from Jamaica Plain, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The operator of the Mazda, a 53-year-old woman from West Roxbury, was transported to Faulkner Hospital for treatment.

This crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Troop H detectives, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.  No charges have been filed at this time.

State Police were also assisted on scene by Boston and Brookline Fire and EMS, members of the Troop H Community Action Team, and the DCR.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
