Massachusetts State Police Media Release—06102017—Fatal Crash Route 90 Westbound in Ludlow
At approximately 11 a.m. this morning, troopers from the State Police barracks in Charlton responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash that resulted in the death of one occupant.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Kevin Kennedy indicates that a 2004 Cadillac Escalade was traveling westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the operator, a 44-year-old Worcester man, lost control of the vehicle and veered left into the median. The vehicle then veered right causing the vehicle to rollover. As a result, two passengers were ejected from the vehicle.
One of the two ejected passengers was determined deceased at the scene. The other passenger, a 66-year-old Worcester woman, as well as the driver, were transported to Bay State Medical by Ludlow and Wilbraham Fire Departments for treatment of serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. No charges have been filed at this time. The right and breakdown lanes were closed for approximately 2 ½ hours to accommodate the investigation.
State Police were assisted on scene by Ludlow and Wilbraham Fire and EMS and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
There is no further information available for release at this time. Please do not contact the barracks for media inquiries.
