The Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit conducted two significant enforcement actions last night in Lawrence, resulting in multiple arrests, the seizure of 760 grams of suspected opioids, and the seizure of more than $3,500 in suspected drug proceeds.

Troopers from the North Shore Gang Task Force yesterday observed suspected drug activity in the Prospect Hill section of Lawrence. Based on surveillance results, the Troopers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Hampshire Street. The stop resulted in the seizure of approximately 440 grams of a substance believed to heroin, fentanyl, or a mixture of both, along with $3,000 in US currency.

Five occupants of the motor vehicle were arrested:

Also last night, members of the North Shore Gang Task Force received information regarding a suspected narcotics dealer in Lawrence, and later located the suspect’s vehicle and approached. Upon observing police, the suspect tried to drive away. The suspect’s car came into contact with a stationary cruiser and the suspect was then apprehended without further incident.

As a result of that stop, Task Force members recovered approximately 320 grams of a substance believed to be heroin, fentanyl, or a mixture of the two, along with $570 in US currency.

The suspect was identified as WILSON ABREU, 32, of Lawrence, and was charged with trafficking a Class A narcotics over 200 grams; failure to stop for police; assault and battery on a police officer; and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle).

Currency was seized under suspicion of it being proceeds from drug trafficking.
