SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER SOUTHWEST CORRIDOR SHOOTING

Shortly before 10 pm yesterday State Police, along with Boston and Transit Police, responded to a shooting at the Southwest Corridor Park behind the Mass. Ave. MBTA station.

Responding Troopers and Officers learned that a 34-year-old man had been shot multiple times and been transported to a Boston hospital, where he is in serious condition.

Boston Police had arrested a suspect in a courtyard in the area of Columbus Avenue and Dilworth Street. The suspect is identified as LISHUAN GAY, 26. BPD officers responded to that location and found the suspect hiding under a stairwell. The Officers recovered from GAY’s backpack a loaded Jimenez Arms 9mm pistol.

MSP Crime Scene Troopers and Ballisticians responded to the shooting scene and recovered physical evidence. Troopers also recovered evidence from the area where the suspect was apprehended, and additionally reviewed available surveillance video (please note we will not release video of an evidentiary nature).

State Police detectives interviewed several relevant witnesses.

Troopers transported GAY to State Police-Boston where he was booked and held pending court today. He is expected to be arraigned today in Roxbury District Court.
