September 14, 2018–The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section yesterday added another new suspect to the department’s list of Most Wanted Sex Offenders.
Troopers are searching for JOHN W. CORBETT, 60, wanted for failure to register as a sex offender as required by law. CORBETT is classified as a Level 3 Sex Offender by the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board as a result of his 1990 conviction for aggravated rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and breaking and entering. The conviction stemmed from a 1989 incident in which CORBETT broke into a Newton home while the occupants slept and sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint. By failing to register as a sex offender, CORBETT is in violation of his Lifetime Sex Offender requirements.
CORBETT, who has a lengthy criminal history in Massachusetts, is white, about 6’ tall and 215 lbs., with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has tattoos on his left wrist, left upper arm, and right upper arm, and has scars on his right thigh, right fingers, left elbow, and abdomen. He has ties to Boston, Plymouth, Lowell, Waltham, Framingham, and Florida. His wanted poster is attached to this release.
Anyone who sees JOHN W. CORBETT, or who has information on his whereabouts, is urged to call the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section at 1-800-KAPTURE (1-800-527-8873) or to call 911.
CORBETT is the sixth new fugitive added to the State Police list of Most Wanted Sex Offenders this week. One of the six was captured yesterday. The remaining five are actively being sought. Their wanted posters can be viewed on the MSP Facebook page, Twitter feed, or news blog (www.mspnews.org).
