State Police investigating fatal crash on I-290 in Marlborough
October 4, 2018 – This morning a crash on I-290 in Marlborough resulted in the death of a Brimfield woman.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Michael Leahy indicates that at about 10 a.m. a 2010 Dodge Caliber was traveling in traffic on I-290 Eastbound in Marlborough in the left lane, east of Exit 25. The Dodge was slowing for traffic when a 2000 Jeep Cherokee crashed into the back of the Dodge.
All four occupants of the Dodge were transported to UMass-Lakeside Hospital. One of the rear seat passengers a 19-year-old woman from Brimfield, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The operator of the Jeep, a 25-year-old man from West Boylston, was also transported to UMass-Lakeside Hospital
This crash remains under investigation by Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Crime Scene Services Section. The investigation will determine if charges will be sought.
State Police were assisted on scene by Marlborough Fire and EMS, Northborough Fire and EMS, and MassDOT.
The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.
