State Police investigating fatal crash in Heath

November 26, 2018 – Last night at about 7:45 P.M., State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Dell Road in Heath which resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper George D’Amelio indicates that a 2001 Toyota Camry was traveling on Dell Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and crashed head-on into a tree. There were three occupants in the vehicle, all of whom were outside the vehicle at the time of the trooper’s arrival.

One of the occupants, a 20-year-old Shelburne Falls woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other two occupants, a 21-year-old Colrain woman and a 28-year-old man from Hinsdale, N.H., were transported to BayState Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

The cause of this crash, including a determination of the vehicle’s operator, remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and troopers assigned to the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office.

State Police were assisted on scene by Colrain and Charlemont Fire and EMS.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
