Defendant’s Car was Stuck on Rocks Next to Land Ho Restaurant

Last night at 10:30 p.m., Massachusetts State Police arrested a man on Route 6A in Orleans for operating under the influence (OUI).  Trooper Matthew Covino, assigned to the State Police Barracks in South Yarmouth, was on routine patrol on Cove Road when he observed a blue Honda Civic stuck on rocks located between the parking lot of the Land Ho Restaurant and the sidewalk. The vehicles reverse lights were on and a male party was attempting to push the front end of the vehicle off the curb and rocks.

The operator of the vehicle was identified ad DONALD JARDINE, 65, of Orleans, who was operating the 2009 Honda Civic. Trooper Covino determined that JARDINE was operating under the influence of alcohol (OUI) and he was arrested.

JARDINE was transported to the State Police Barracks in South Yarmouth where he was booked and charged.  JARDINE was later transported to the Barnstable House of Correction until his scheduled arraignment in Orleans District Court.


Donald JARDINE was charged with the following offenses:

1.         Operating Under the Influence of Liquor 3rd Offense 90-24L;

2.         Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License 90-23D;

3.         Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle 90-24E.
