Suspect Arrested After Assault with Screwdriver in Medford

Massachusetts State Police Troopers arrested a Medford man this morning moments after he stabbed another man with screwdriver outside the Starbucks at Wellington Circle.

The victim, a 30-year-old male, was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital with facial lacerations. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Troopers from the Medford Barracks and some who were working details nearby immediately rushed to the scene following the 9:30 a.m. incident. Responding troopers learned that the suspect was seen running toward the Wellington MBTA station a short distance away. Troopers located the suspect at the station and placed him under arrest.

The suspect is identified as JUNIOR DORNEVIL, 28, of Medford. He is being booked on assault-related charges and is expected to eventually be brought to Somerville District Court for arraignment.

Preliminary investigation suggests that DORNEVIL and the man he stabbed did not know each other.
