State Police seeking public’s help identifying hit-and-run driver in Windsor crash

August 25, 2018 – This afternoon at about 2:15 p.m., State Police responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle on Route 9 at Route 8A in Windsor.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Nicholas Pickunka indicates that a 55-year-old Pittsfield man was traveling on Route 9 Westbound on a 2002 Honda VT1100 when a vehicle, which had been traveling eastbound, turned left in front of the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the vehicle. That vehicle then immediately fled the scene of the crash.

The operator of the motorcycle and his 57-year-old female passenger, also from Pittsfield, were both transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield for treatment of serious and minor injuries respectively.

The vehicle which fled the scene, traveling northbound on Route 8A towards the town of Savoy, is described as a blue, Subaru SUV. That vehicle should have damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. Anyone with any information relative to that vehicle and/or operator is asked to call the State Police Barracks in Cheshire at 413-743-4700.

State Police were assisted on scene by Dalton Fire and Action EMS.
