Chelsea Man Arrested for Firearms Violations

Early yesterday morning, just after midnight, Trooper David Rando, a recent graduate of the 84th Recruit Training Troop and his Field Training Officer, Trooper Patrick O’Keefe, who are both assigned to the State Police – Medford Barracks, stopped a Honda CRV on Second Street in Everett for motor vehicle violations.

The driver, identified as LEANDER J. RIVERA SOTO, 24, of Chelsea, was found to have a suspended driver’s license and in possession of a 9mm Beretta, with a 15-round magazine, loaded. RIVERA SOTO does not possess a license to carry firearms.

RIVERA SOTO was placed under arrest and brought to the State Police Medford Barracks for booking.

RIVERA SOTO was charged with the following:
1.            Possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device;
2.            Carrying a loaded firearm;
3.            Possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device;
4.            Possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device;
5.            Carrying a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle;
6.            Possession of ammo without FID card;
7.            Owner fail to report firearm transfer/loss;
8.            Operate motor vehicle with suspended/revoked license;
9.            Number plate violation;
10.          Operate motor vehicle with improper/loud exhaust;
11.          Noncompliant aftermarket lighting;
12.          Improperly store large capacity firearm.

RIVERA SOTO was held on $5,040 bail until being arraigned in Malden District Court.
