The Trooper who was shot Friday night was released from Massachusetts General Hospital today. He will remain on injured leave as he recovers. He is identified as Trooper John Lennon. Trooper Lennon was a member of the MSP’s 85th Recruit Training Troop, which graduated from the State Police Academy in May.
The search for the suspect or suspects who shot him during a motor vehicle stop on Camp Street in Hyannis shortly before midnight Friday is ongoing.
We have received several inquiries asking for confirmation that a person named by a media outlet is being sought in connection with the shooting. Please note that the State Police Media Relations Office is not confirming that that person or any other person is being sought or that they are suspects.
No further information is expected to be released today.
