Update – STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH IN BOSTON

UPDATE – 28 June at 8:10 p.m. decedents identified.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. yesterday evening, Troopers assigned to the State Police-Brighton Barracks responded to a crash involving two vehicles on Soldiers Field Road in Boston that resulted in the death of two people.

Preliminary investigation indicates the operator of a 2019 Acura RDX, an 85-year-old male from Belmont, was exiting a business in the area of 1800 Soldiers Field Road in Boston when it was struck by a 2016 Infiniti Q50 traveling eastbound on Soldiers Field Road. Donald Houllahan, 85, and Jean Houllahan, 83; a married couple from Belmont, were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Mr. Houllahan passed away shortly after arriving at a hospital, Mrs. Houllahan succumbed to her injuries overnight. Three occupants in the Infiniti were transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threating, injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

All lanes of Soldiers Field Road were closed at the scene of the crash until approximately 9 p.m. in order to facilitate the crash investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by Troopers assigned to State Police-Boston with assistance from State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, H Troop Detectives, and the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit. Boston Fire, Boston EMS, and MassDOT assisted with the crash scene.
