STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL PEDESTRIAN CRASH IN MEDFORD

At approximately 6:50 PM Troopers from the State Police-Medford Barracks, along with Medford Police and Fire and EMS, responded to a crash involving a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the vicinity of 330 Middlesex Avenue in Medford. 

The pedestrian, a 77-year-old Malden man, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. 

The investigation determined that the victim was struck by a 2013 Ford Fiesta as he was walking in the right travel lane. The operator of the Fiesta is expected to face charges for unlicensed operation. 

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and being conducted by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and Medford and Somerville Police.
