STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH IN BLANDFORD

Today at about 7:47 a.m., Troopers from the State Police-Russell Barracks responded to a crash involving a GMC Yukon on Beech Hill Road in the town of Blandford that resulted in the death of the operator. 

Preliminary investigation indicates that, a 40-year-old woman from Woodford, VT., was driving a 2000 GMC Yukon on Beech Hill Road. For reasons still under investigation, the operator lost control and crashed off the right side of the road. The Yukon struck a tree before going down a ditch approximately 30 feet deep. No other vehicle was involved. 

The operator was determined to be deceased at the scene. 

The crash remains under investigation with assistance from State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and Hampden County State Police Detective Unit.
