Accreditation Commission to Visit Massachusetts State Police

The Massachusetts State Police Colonel Geoffrey Noble announces the continued partnership with the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC) to maintain compliance with the state Accreditation standards established by MPAC. Law Enforcement Accreditation is a set of nationally recognized standards that reflect the best practices in policy, operations, training, and facilities. It is a proven management model that increases operational efficiency, improves the delivery of services, reduces risks, and lowers costs. Accreditation has become the primary method for an agency to voluntarily demonstrate its commitment to excellence in law enforcement.

The standards upon which a Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is based reflect the current thinking and experience of law enforcement practitioners and researchers. Major law enforcement associations, leading educational and training institutions, governmental agencies, and law enforcement executives internationally acknowledge that the voluntary and transparent application of a public safety accreditation program is the benchmark for today’s law enforcement agency.

Our Department received the initial award of Accreditation in 2022. Accreditation is built upon the foundation of continued compliance. This process ensures

our Department continues to uphold the Accreditation standards of excellence. On November 4, 2025, our Department will receive an on-site assessment from MPAC to finalize a review of compliance that began with facility inspections across our Department in September 2025, to receive the award of Re-Accreditation.
