Cambridge Police, State Police Investigating Serious Crash That Injured Bicyclist

At approximately 6PM on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, Cambridge Police Officers, Massachusetts State Troopers, and Cambridge Fire and EMS personnel responded to a crash between a station wagon and an electric bicycle on Gerry’s Landing Road. The bicyclist suffered suspected serious injuries.

 

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack was generally northbound in the left lane while, simultaneously, the bicyclist was crossing Gerry’s Landing Road generally westbound in a marked crosswalk. The station wagon and bicycle collided.

 

The bicyclist, a 57-year-old Watertown woman, was thrown from the bike and suffered apparent serious injuries. She was transported to Beth Israel Hospital. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 75-year-old Somerville man, had no apparent injuries.

 

The crash remains under investigation by Cambridge Police and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Troop H Detective Unit, and State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers from the State Police-Boston Barracks also responded to assist at the scene. The scene was cleared just before 9PM.
