Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 91 in Springfield Results in the Death of 23-Year-Old Man

Around 2:30 PM today, Troopers from State Police-Springfield Barracks responded to a crash involving a 2018 Jeep SUV and a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle on Interstate 91 southbound in Springfield. The crash resulted in fatal injuries to the operator of the motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was traveling on I91 when it struck the rear of the SUV.

The motorcycle's operator, a 23-year-old Springfield man, was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a stationary post.

The investigation into the crash is being conducted by the State Police-Springfield Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Hampden County. Troopers were assisted on scene by MassDOT and The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
