The Massachusetts State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) successfully located a missing 4-year-old child who had wandered away from his home in Southampton on October 8.

The child was reported missing along with two dogs at approximately 11:10 a.m., prompting an immediate response by SERT team members to assist the Southampton Police Department. MSP’s Air Wing, K-9 and drone units, Troopers from the Northampton Barracks, and DCR Rangers also responded.

Search teams deployed into a thickly wooded area nearby. At approximately 1:00 p.m., Trooper Timothy Fanion of the SERT team located the child in the woods uninjured, and he was returned safely to his family.
