State Police, Boston Fire Recover Body of Missing Man from Neponset River

At approximately 1:10 PM today Troopers assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) located the body of a missing man in the Neponset River in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood.

SERT Troopers located the victim in a section of the river near the Dana Avenue Bridge while they were  conducting a missing person search along the river banks. The body located is believed to be the subject of that missing person search, a 60-year-old male from a nearby homeless encampment.

The victim was recovered by the Massachusetts State Police Dive Team and Boston Fire Department Dive Team.

Troopers began searching for the missing man on Monday after two other men who lived with him in the encampment located the missing man’s walker and other personal items along the shoreline  of the river near B Street in Hyde Park.

SERT is the MSP’s search and rescue unit. The investigation into the facts and circumstances of the man’s death is ongoing and is being conducted by the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County with assistance from the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police-Milton Barracks.

No further information is being released at this time.
