The the vehicle became engulfed in flames.
The 18-year-old operator was ejected onto the road and was subsequently struck by other oncoming vehicles and sustained fatal injuries. Her name is not being released at this time.
A 17-year-old male passenger in the Envoy was also ejected (later in the crash sequence of events) and sustained minor head injuries.
Two passengers in the back seat, a 15-year-old female and a 16-year-old female, suffered minor injuries.
The three surviving occupants of the GMC Envoy were transported to Lawrence General Hospital.
