Around 1:10PM on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Route 2 eastbound in Concord that resulted in the death of a Medford man.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was travelling on Route 2 when it rear-ended a second vehicle, pushing that vehicle into a third. The Monte Carlo’s driver, Steven Marchand, 70, of Medford was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased. The operator of the second vehicle, a 26-year-old Stoughton man, suffered minor injuries and was also transported. The driver of the third vehicle was uninjured.

The left travel lane of Route 2 eastbound in Concord was closed for nearly two hours. The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted by Concord PD, Concord Fire and EMS, and MassDOT.
