At approximately 2:50 PM today Massachusetts State Police patrols out of the Milton Barracks responded to a call for a car struck by a bullet on Route 93 South in Braintree. Preliminary investigation suggests that a potential road rage incident involving two vehicles (separate and unrelated to the victim’s vehicle) took place on the northbound side. An occupant of one of those other vehicles fired a round, which struck the vehicle on the southbound side. (The vehicle that was struck was not involved in the potential road rage incident on the northbound side.)

The male operator of the southbound vehicle suffered an extremely minor injury. He refused medical transport.

The investigation, including processing of the vehicle and interviews of witnesses, is active and is being conducted by State Police patrols, detectives, crime scene technicians and ballistics experts. Traffic lanes were briefly closed to accommodate an evidentiary search by Troopers. All lanes have since re-opened.

Nothing further is being released at this time.
