UPDATE - Trooper Dragged by Fleeing Vehicle on Traffic Stop (VIDEO)

UPDATE – A short time ago Troopers located fugitive DEREK LOBO, 31, inside a residence at 33 Union Street, Brockton and took him into custody. LOBO was located after an intensive investigation by the State Police Troop D Community Action Team (CAT) and the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section. Multiple Troopers from both units took part in the arrest; the Trooper who actually placed him in custody was the Troop D CAT member who was dragged by the suspect in last night’s incident.


LOBO has been booked at State Police-Middleboro on the following charges:


1. Assault and battery on a police officer;

2. Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon;

3. Trafficking in Fentanyl, more than 10 grams;

4. Negligent operation of a motor vehicle;

5. Failure to stop for police;

6. Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle;

7. Number plate violation;

8. No inspection sticker;

9. Speeding;

10. Window tint violation; and

11. Not in possession of a license.


A bail commissioner set bail for LOBO at $5,000 plus the standard $40 bail fee. He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow at Brockton District Court. LOBO was transported to the Bristol County House of Correction to be held pending arraignment or posting of bail.

The Massachusetts State Police are seeking the driver of a car that dragged a Trooper on a traffic stop in Brockton last night. The incident occurred at shortly before 6:00 PM on Montello Street after the Trooper stopped the car for motor vehicle violations.

The suspect is identified as Derek Lobo, 31, of Brockton. He is wanted for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle, and Trafficking in Fentanyl, among other charges.

The Trooper suffered minor injuries.
