On Saturday, August 17, around 12:30AM, a Trooper from the SP-Middleborough Barracks was conducting patrol on Route 24 northbound in Bridgewater. The Trooper observed a black Cadillac sedan which carried a revoked registration for being uninsured.

The Trooper turned on their blue lights and stopped the Cadillac. While slowing to a stop, the Trooper could see a passenger in the rear seats moving around the vehicle and ducking out of sight. The Trooper approached the vehicle and informed the operator of the reason for the stop. All three occupants of the vehicle were unbelted.

The Trooper removed the rear passenger from the vehicle and conducted a pat frisk. The rear passenger was found to be in possession of nearly 70 grams of crack and cocaine hidden in her sweatshirt. The passenger, DARIA CANANZEY, 28, of New Bedford was placed under arrest and transported to the Middleborough Barracks.

The vehicle was towed from the scene for being unregistered and uninsured, and the driver and front passenger were driven off the highway.

DARIA CANANZEY was booked, fingerprinted, and photographed per department policy.

CANANZEY was scheduled to be arraigned in Brockton District Court on charges of:

1.            Trafficking In Cocaine.
