At approximately 8:30 a.m. on January 19, Trooper Nicholas Brooks, assigned to State Police-Springfield, was dispatched to reports of a hit-and-run crash that occurred on Route 91 Springfield. Trooper Brooks located the offending vehicle in the parking lot of a restaurant on Main Street in Springfield, then identified the operator as DARYN TACY, 34, of Keene, N.H. Due to the extent of the damages on TACY’s vehicle, Trooper Brooks requested a tow truck to respond for removal.
Prior to the vehicle being loaded onto the tow truck, Trooper Brooks conducted an inventory of its contents. During the inventory the Trooper quickly located a large pistol grip shotgun. TACY is not licensed to possess firearms and was placed under arrest. During a follow-up search of the vehicle Troopers located approximately 12 grams of a substance suspected to be Crack Cocaine as well as a sandwich bag containing approximately 56 grams of a substance suspected to be Cocaine.
TACY was transported to the Springfield Barracks for booking where he was scheduled for arraignment at Springfield District Court on the following charges:
Improper Storage of a Firearm;
Possession of a Firearm without FID Card;
Possession of Ammunition without FID Card;
Trafficking in Cocaine; and
Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
