Troopers Arrest Man with Narcotics

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on January 17, Trooper Jonathan Foley, assigned to State Police-Springfield, was patrolling Federal Street in Springfield. At that time he observed a blue Volkswagen Jetta fail to stop at the intersection of Federal and Taylor Streets. Trooper Foley then activated his cruiser’s blue lights and initiated a traffic stop on the Volkswagen.

Upon the vehicle coming to a full stop, Trooper Foley approached it and identified the operator as BRANDY PEREZ, 19, of Springfield. While speaking to him, Trooper Foley observed a large amount of cash wrapped in rubber bands, multiple baggies of suspected Marijuana, and numerous packages of suspected THC Vape Pens. Due to PEREZ’s age, the amount of the THC products, and the manner in which they were packaged, PEREZ was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. In total approximately 61 individual baggies of Marijuana and 31 THC Vape Pens were located.

PEREZ was transported to the Springfield Barracks for booking. He was scheduled for arraignment at Springfield District Court on the following charges:

  1. Possession of a Class D Substance with Intent to Distribute;

  2. Possession of a Class D Substance;

  3. Possession of a Class C Substance with Intent to Distribute; and

  4. Possession of a Class C Substance.
