Weekly Significant Activity Report for the Week Ending 7/18/26

Taser Deployed on Intoxicated Person Resisting Arrest

On 07/10/2026, a Trooper from the Revere Barracks observed a male lying on the ground at Constitution Beach in East Boston. The Trooper approached the individual and observed him in possession of a bottle of alcohol. Less than an hour earlier, the individual had been evicted from Constitution Beach and issued a 24-hour trespass notice for public drinking.

The Trooper informed the individual that he was under arrest. He began walking away and ignored multiple commands to stop. When instructed to comply, the individual refused, stating, "I am not doing that (expletive)." He then clenched his fists and began walking toward the Trooper.

While displaying her Taser, the Trooper issued additional verbal warnings, but the individual failed to comply. The Trooper deployed her Taser. The individual was taken into custody and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and other related offenses.

Vehicle Operator Charged with Domestic Abuse

On 07/12/2026, Troopers from the Shelburne Falls Barracks received a report of an erratically operated vehicle in Shelburne Falls with a female passenger screaming, "Let me out of the car!"

A Trooper located the vehicle in a nearby shopping plaza and conducted a motor vehicle stop. An on-scene investigation revealed that the male operator had gone to a residence where the female victim was staying, physically assaulted her multiple times, spat on her, and refused to let her exit the vehicle.

The operator was charged with domestic abuse and kidnapping.

Unruly Bus Passenger Issued a Summons

On 07/08/2026, a Trooper from the Millbury Barracks responded to a report of an unruly passenger on a bus east of Exit 106 on Interstate 90 westbound in Hopkinton.

The bus driver reported that the passenger was harassing other passengers and creating a disturbance. The driver also reported that the passenger was using drugs, smoking on the bus, and had become physically aggressive toward another passenger.

The individual was removed from the bus and issued a summons for Disorderly Conduct.

Wrong-Way Operator Charged with Operating Under the Influence

On 07/09/2026, a Trooper from the Middleborough Barracks was alerted by the desk officer to a report of a wrong-way driver traveling north in the southbound lanes of Route 24 in Freetown. The caller reported nearly being struck head-on while traveling in the left travel lane.

The Trooper responded immediately and located the vehicle stopped in the median, facing the wrong direction. The female operator exhibited numerous signs of impairment and performed poorly on Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).

She was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor. The operator consented to a breath test, which indicated a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.22%, more than twice the legal limit.

Troopers Assist Individual in Distress

On 07/08/2026, Troopers from the Boston Barracks responded to the Boston University Bridge, where they located a teenage male in apparent distress running in his underwear.

The Troopers persuaded the non-verbal teen, who was unable to communicate through sign language or a smartphone, to enter their cruiser before voluntarily boarding an ambulance. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Recognizing that the teen could not identify himself, the Troopers photographed him and distributed the images to the Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC) and the Fusion Center. By leveraging the Massachusetts law enforcement intelligence network, they quickly identified him and contacted his mother. The Troopers remained with the teen until he was safely reunited with his family.
