LOWELL, MA — Today, at approximately 12:15 p.m., members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, Lowell Police Department, Methuen Police Department, and Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, successfully apprehended Daquhan Cromer, 29, who was wanted by New Hampshire authorities as a fugitive from justice.

Last year while serving a criminal sentence for assault, Cromer fled New Hampshire correctional custody and evaded capture for approximately one year. Local, state, and federal law enforcement from New Hampshire and Massachusetts developed actionable information about Cromer’s whereabouts that ultimately led to his arrest today on Bowden Street in Lowell, Massachusetts.

During the search, New Hampshire officials ordered a shelter-in-place yesterday in Salem. Cromer was considered armed and dangerous, and he was wanted by Methuen Police for assault and battery on a child under 14 and by Lowell Police for assault with a dangerous weapon and other offenses.

“This arrest is a testament to the outstanding work of the Massachusetts State Police and the importance of strong partnerships across local, state and federal law enforcement,” said Governor Maura Healey. “I want to commend our State Police Troopers for their dedication and persistence, and thank our partners in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for working together to bring this individual into custody and keep our communities safe.”

“This arrest highlights the dedication, professionalism, and strong collaboration among our law enforcement partners,” said Colonel Geoffrey Noble, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police. “I commend the Troopers assigned to our Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, along with our federal and local partners, for their coordinated efforts in bringing a fugitive wanted in two states into custody. Our members work tirelessly each day to protect the public, reduce crime, and enhance the safety of our communities. This successful apprehension is another example of their unwavering commitment to that mission.”

The Massachusetts State Police remain committed to working alongside federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to locate and apprehend wanted individuals, hold offenders accountable, and strengthen public safety throughout the Commonwealth.
