MSP Investigating Serious Crash on Route 1 in Danvers

At 10:05 AM Massachusetts State Police patrols and specialized units responded to a single-car crash on Route 1 north in Danvers that resulted in serious injuries to the driver.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV operated by a 34-year-old Peabody man went off the road about one-half mile before the Route 62 exit. The Cherokee grazed a telephone pole and then crashed squarely into a large tree.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Beverly Hospital and was later transported to Lahey Hospital in Burlington.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the State Police-Danvers Barracks, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted on scene by Danvers Police, Danvers Fire, and EMTs.

The right lane was closed to facilitate the emergency response. The scene was cleared at 11:43 AM.
