Two Major Operations Conducted By CINRET

On February 10th and 11th, the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (CINRET) conducted two operations to take down several narcotics and firearms trafficking rings in Springfield. The first operation was the result of a four-month long investigation that targeted a sophisticated drug trafficking ring based in Massachusetts and Puerto Rico. The operation culminated with the execution of six simultaneous search warrants in the City of Springfield. The second operation targeted a mid-level fentanyl trafficker operating in the greater Springfield area. As a result of both operations, six individuals were arrested and law enforcement seized the following:
15 Handguns
6 rifles
11 large capacity magazines
Hundreds of rounds of ammunition
Approximately $63,000 in US currency
Approximately 8.5 kilograms of cocaine
Approximately 30,000 bags of fentanyl
The following agencies took part in the operations: CINRET West Team, MSP Gang Unit, Crime Scene Services Section, Attorney General’s Office, State Police Detective Unit (SPDU) Hampden, State Police STOP Team, Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), Troop B Community Action Team (CAT), Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
