Investigation Into Billerica Fuel Tanker Crash Ongoing

The investigation into yesterday’s three-vehicle crash on Route 3 northbound in Billerica is ongoing.

At this time the evidence, including the widely-viewed dash-cam video from a vehicle that was behind the crash, indicates that the driver of the tanker bears no responsibility for causing the crash. The investigation into whether either driver of the other two vehicles should be charged or cited is ongoing.

The State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section today begin an inspection of the tanker, which is standard MSP procedure for all significant crashes involving commercial vehicles and is not indicative of suspicion any mechanical problem or violation.

There were no significant injuries suffered by involved motorists. The crash scene was cleared and all lanes reopened this morning.
