Troopers Locate 911 Caller Held Against her Will by Erratic Operator
On 06/19/26, dispatch received a 911 call from a woman stating she was in an UBER, and the driver was driving erratically. He was speeding and struck a guardrail. She also stated that the driver would not pull over to let her out of the vehicle and had locked the doors. She advised of her drop-off location. A Trooper from the Holden Barracks responded to the drop-off location and spotted the vehicle in question on a dead-end street. The passenger was able flee the vehicle at that time. The driver turned around and drove towards the marked cruisers and swerved around them, he continued towards the other end of the dead-end road where he again turned around and drove towards the cruisers and then through a fence and into a yard of a homeowner. He then backed up sped past the Troopers on scene, yelling profanities and striking a cruiser. He came to a stop and was removed from the vehicle and fought with the Troopers trying to place him under arrest. Once under control he was identified, assisted to his feet and escorted to a marked cruiser. He refused medical treatment and was taken into custody.
Violent Suspect with Multiple Warrants Resists Arrest
On 06/21/26, a Trooper from the Holden Barracks stopped a vehicle for motor vehicle violations on Route 190 in Sterling. Once the vehicle pulled over, he identified the driver and passenger. The passenger was confirmed to have 4 outstanding warrants.
The passenger was asked to exit the vehicle and she refused. She jumped into the back seat of the vehicle, pulled out a lighter and small glass cylinder pipe and began smoking from it. The Trooper tried to remove her from the vehicle, and she began kicking him in the chest. Another Trooper managed to grab her by her left arm as she hung onto the headrest. She continued to ignore all requests to exit the vehicle and was actively resisting and kicking. She continued to resist, jumping from the back seat to the front seat.
She was then pepper sprayed and was eventually removed from the vehicle but continued to be combative towards the Troopers on scene. EMS was requested, due to the erratic behavior and smoking an unknown substance. The party needed to be sedated by the EMS personnel, in order to be transported. She was admitted to the hospital. Once released the next morning, she was transported to the Holden Barracks for booking.
Fleeing Road Rage Suspect Taken into Custody
On 06/24/2026, a Trooper from the Dartmouth Barracks responded to the area of Route 195 westbound in Dartmouth for a report of two vehicles crashing into each other during a road rage incident.
The Trooper located one of the vehicles involved on Route 195 westbound. The other vehicle failed to stop. He pursued the vehicle. Stop Sticks were successfully deployed on Route 195 in Swansea.
The vehicle slowed down nearly to a stop at a weigh station then turned and started driving the wrong way on the highway (east in westbound lanes). Assisting Troopers effectively slowed and stopped traffic on Route 195 west helping to avoid motor vehicle crashes from occurring with the wrong-way operator. The operator corrected his direction of travel and subsequently exited Route 195 west at Exit 1 in Seekonk.
Seekonk Police began to pursue the fleeing vehicle as State Police assets terminated. Seekonk PD pursued the Toyota on Route 44 east in their town where they eventually terminated the pursuit once they entered Rehoboth. The Toyota was later observed traveling on Route 44 east in Taunton at a speed of approximately 15 miles per hour. As it traveled, the deflated tires began to smoke and started to burn. Troopers responded to the area and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. The operator was arrested and charged with Fail to Stop for Police, Reckless Operation, Speeding, Marked Lanes, Failure to Signal, and Wrong Way on State Highway.
