Weekly Summary of Police Activity

In the 351 cities and towns, Massachusetts State Troopers use their training and skill to navigate a variety of circumstances that often present significant danger to themselves and others. In an effort to raise greater awareness of their work, the Department periodically shares incident summaries.
Each summary reflects a small portion of the Department’s work to strengthen public safety, collaborate with our partners, and build positive relationships in the communities we serve.
For the integrity of ongoing criminal cases and in the interest of each subject’s privacy, we have removed personally identifying information from the narratives as well as information not subject to public disclosure. All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
B CAT Gun and Drugs
Troopers from the Troop B Community Action Team conducted a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 91 in Deerfield.
During the stop, Troopers learned that neither the operator nor any of the passengers had a valid driver's license.
Troopers removed the operator to fill out summons paperwork. During the conversation with the operator and passengers, Troopers ascertained that the vehicle was transporting narcotics across New England as well as an illegal firearm.
Troopers performed a frisk of the vehicle and located a stolen, loaded Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazine. Troopers also located a second loaded Glock handgun with a defaced serial number, a high-capacity magazine, approximately 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, and approximately 120 grams of pure fentanyl.
Troopers placed all the occupants under arrest for narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses.
Ride App Sexual Assault
Troopers from Troop A responded to a report of sexual assault in a ride share vehicle on the North Shore.
Troopers conducted a preliminary investigation and determined that the customer assaulted the driver upon entering the vehicle.
With the passenger-suspect in custody, Troopers facilitated transport to a local hospital for both individuals to receive further evaluation.

Assaulting A Trooper
Troopers from the Springfield Barracks conducted a traffic stop when a vehicle ran a red light.
During their conversation, the driver said he didn’t have a license, and his eyes appeared to be dilated. When Troopers asked him to get out of the car, the driver suddenly reached towards something in the door frame. Troopers quickly gained control of his wrists, fearing the man was reaching for a weapon.
After a struggle, Troopers subdued the man, placed him in custody, and located phenyl cyclohexyl piperidine, also known as “angel dust.”
The suspect later admitted to taking the drug, which was consistent with his erratic, aggressive behavior. The suspect was arrested and charged appropriately.
Attempted Murder with Arson
Troopers from the Russell Barracks, responded to a reported arson attack in Huntington. Once on scene, Troopers spoke with the victim, who said his ex-girlfriend set his house on fire. Troopers also confirmed that the suspect had an active 209A order [TM2] [LB3] against her taken out by the victim.
A short time later, Troopers located the suspect lying inside her vehicle with a ligature around her neck. Troopers broke a window, removed the woman from the vehicle, rendered aid, and facilitated transport to a local hospital.
Troopers submitted an application for a criminal complaint for numerous charges, including attempted murder and arson.
Plain view Drug Arrest
Troopers from the Holden Barracks on patrol in Worcester became aware of a woman slumped over the wheel of a Nissan.
Troopers located the vehicle still running with the woman unresponsive inside. In her lap in plain view, Troopers observed a small, open bag which contained a burnt spoon, multiple needles, and purple-colored cotton pieces.
When Troopers announced their presence, the woman woke up and attempted to move the bag of paraphernalia onto the floorboard of the vehicle.
Troopers identified the woman, removed from her vehicle, and conducted a search that revealed 5 knotted plastic baggies containing purple powder, and unused needles.
After EMS responded evaluate her, Troopers placed the woman under arrest.
OUI While Carrying
Troopers from the Bourne Barracks responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Bourne Bridge that required officials to close all travel lanes.
Troopers rendered first aid to the victims and spoke with the operator of a pickup truck involved in the crash. During their conversation, Troopers ascertained the operator was impaired and placed him under arrest for OUI. They subsequently located a Glock firearm with an extended clip in the center console, which the operator was not licensed to carry.
Autistic Medical Episode
A Troop D Community Action Team Trooper a construction detail was flagged down by a school bus driver who said a 13-year-old male student was having a medical episode.
The Trooper immediately requested an EMS response and went on to the bus to provide medical aid. The Trooper determined the young male, who was autistic, was having a seizure and was bleeding from his mouth due to biting his tongue. The Trooper provided first aid, calmed the young man down after the seizure, and comforted other students on the bus. A short time later EMS arrived and assumed care of the young man.
Stolen Car and Drugs
Troopers from Framingham Barracks observed a black Dodge Durango traveling on Route 128 in Westwood.
Troopers ran the license plate which revealed the vehicle was stolen from Boston. Troopers continued to follow the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
After identifying and removing all of the occupants, Troopers conducted a search which yielded approximately 45 grams of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging materials, approximately $1,200 in counterfeit U.S. currency, 2 BB guns, 7 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and other items consistent with drug trafficking. The operator was arrested and charged appropriately.
Porch Piret Arrested
A Trooper from the South Boston Barracks noticed a man running past his cruiser carrying a large box exchange words with a delivery driver and subsequently drop the box. The man then ran across all four lanes of traffic on Columbia Road.
The Trooper approached the delivery driver who said the man attempted to steal a package. suspicions. The Trooper asked the driver to remain in the area to give a more complete statement until he could apprehend the suspect.
The Trooper located the suspect, placed him in custody, and returned him to the scene of the crime. At that time, the delivery driver made a positive identification and recounted the event.
The Trooper and delivery driver returned the package to the residence, knocked on the door and spoke with the designated recipient, who was extremely grateful to have his package returned.
The suspect was arrested and charged appropriately.
