Troopers Train at Mass Maritime Academy

Last week, Troopers assigned to the State Police Marine Unit travelled to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne to train in their advanced ship handling simulator. The training prepared Troopers for their regular mission escorting large, commercial ships in and out of Boston Harbor.

Functioning as the crew of a vessel during the simulation, the Marine Unit members were exposed to concerns a crew may have while navigating a new port, and learned how they could better assist with their safe movement in a variety of situations.

Thank you, Captain Burns and Captain Flannery from Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Captain McCabe of the Boston Harbor Pilots Association for this excellent training opportunity.
